The Climate in Lanzarote

By: Jett Grieve

The Lanzarote’s climate is alike to the other Canary Islands together with spring like weather conditions during the whole year. The absence of large central mountains signifies that the dissimilarity in temperature between the south and the north is minimal. In the summertime, the highest temperature is roughly 25 °C and in the wintertime, the average is 17 °C.

Though winters are temperate, the warm clouds from time to time gather on the rocks of the island’s north and fog may appear over the Riscos de Famara. In last several years, the evident modification in pattern of global weather has become a higher than average rain in Lanzarote. This has been advantageous to this usually arid climate and has made a greener countryside in particular parts of the Canary Island.

Summer and spring can be windy here, reaching roughly 23 knots or even more that makes it very famous for windsurfers. An eastern wind called sirocco often blows from the Sahara Desert, then the temperature rises and it may become cruel. But such conditions never last very long and almost immediately, it is clear skies again. Winter in Lanzarote is usually 10% warmer than it is on mainland Spain, so this is a very popular wintersun destination.
