Some people think canister vacuums are a thing of the past, akin to pet rocks and leg warmers. Truth be told, plenty of companies still manufacture canister vacuums. Among the best are those built by German company, Miele. With the quality you would expect of German engineering and a sleek European design, the Miele S4210 Capella stands out from the competition. This lightweight canister vacuum allows you to control suction via a rotary dial on the canister itself. With the dial you can use between 200-1200 watts of power coming from the Capella’s 1200 watt, high-output Vortex Motor System™. Like other Miele canister vacuums, the S4210 feature a sealed system construction, which makes for a quieter vacuuming experience as well as helping to keep the air clean from dust particles. Its Super Air Clean filter (1 supplied) means that even those who suffer from allergies will have no trouble using it to clean their carpets. A Dust bag change indicator makes it easy to know when to change the bag, and in a nice change of pace from other canister vacuums, changing the bag turned out to be a breeze. The Capella comes with all the standard attachments (natural bristle dusting brush, crevice tool and an upholstery nozzle) but an accessory clip that attaches to the main wand keeps you from having to bend down for them. The Miele S4210 Capella Vacuum Cleaners comes in a pleasant blue color and weighs just 11 lbs. It measures 8” high, 9” wide, and 19” long making it easy to maneuver. It comes with two 3.5L/3.7 quart capacity Intensive Clean Plus™ dust bags. The Capella has a 29.5 foot operating radius, the push of a button send the cord retracting automatically. A slot on the Miele’s side keeps the floor tool attached when you are ready to store it away. Pros: In a world of heavy uprights, the S4210 Capella is a lightweight easy-to-us canister option that makes vacuuming an almost pleasurable experience. The HEPA filter and Sealed System™ construction make the Capella a quiet and air-friendly vacuum. The ability to easily vary the suction power is a nice touch, and with 1200 watts at its disposal, this little Miele Vacuums has incredible suction. Cons: Most manufacturers are going for that space-age look. The S4210, however, looks like it could have come from the 60s. Not in a bad way, but in a retrocool, Dr. Who kind of way. I like it, but others may not, so I’ll list it as a con. Also, changing bags turns some people off in spite of the fact that Miele has worked hard to make the process as easy and dust-free as possible. I couldn’t be happier with the Miele S4210 Capella canister vacuum. It does the job I need it to with power and class. It’s a shame more people in the U.S. aren’t familiar with Miele’s high quality line of products. I think the more people experience the Capella (and other Miele products) for themselves, the more they will learn why Miele is a trusted name in the rest of the world. Give it a shot and you, too, will be singing the praises of the Miele S4210 Capella.
