Get Rid of Lousy Spam For Good

By: John Chan

Most people think spam is irritating and clogs up their email account. They dislike the pointless attempts to get them to click on links to get a home loan or buy some pills cheap. Hundreds of thousands and more of these irritating pieces of junk email go out every day to almost every computer user's mailbox.

It doesn't matter if you don't like getting spam. You will still receive it if you work on the Internet with your computer. People believe that they have to accept this as it is a fact of life for being online.

The content in the spam is often carefully organized by spammers. They know that most people will delete these emails, but there will be a few that will be curious enough to read the email and even click on the links. Spam does give results and it does work.

If an ad is sent continually to people over a period of time, some computer users are bound to open the spam and click on the link to find out more. People who do the spamming know that it is only a law of averages, and some people will be interested in what they have to say. It's true that the vast majority of computer users are irritated by the spam, but spammers don't care about that.

Computer users often wonder why they get those emails and how their email was found by the spammer. Spambots, which collect email addresses from the Internet, are designed to grab as many email addresses as they can to send unwanted emails to an unsuspecting computer user. This is one of the ways to harvest addresses.

Spammers use Internet Service Providers to find different user names of people who are computer users. They use combinations of different names and use these addresses to mail out the unwanted junk email. They will eventually get legitimate email addresses out of this method and the person receives the email.

If you are ready to sign up for a mailing list on a website, make sure you check out their privacy policy. Be sure that they state that they do not sell, share, or give away your name to others. If you don't see any privacy policy, or comments regarding your privacy, then be wary.

Many companies such as AOL or Yahoo have built in spam filters that block certain words or junk before it even gets to your mailbox. Inevitably some of the offensive or junky emails manage to get through. Just for added security, spend some time on your computer and learn how to block these emails. Refrain from clicking on the links, because you'll only get more spam!
