Anxiety Attacks And What Trigger It

There are a variety of triggers for anxiety attacks. The first areas a doctor will explore to be the reason for the patient’s anxiety attacks are the latter’s
1. environmental condition
2. family’s medical condition
3. own personality
4. brain chemistry
5. past trauma.
If the patient does not have a particular problem in any of the areas mentioned above, the doctor then looks at the following other possibilities. These possibilities are chronic fatigue, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic headaches, sleep apnea, thyroid disorders, adrenal disorders, diabetes, asthma, ulcers, hypertension, Ritalin, migraines, particular heart conditions, drugs, epilepsy, alcohol withdrawal, inhalers/respiratory medications, weight loss drugs, Steroids, etc. These possibilities may trigger anxiety attacks under certain conditions.
A negative environmental condition is able to trigger these attacks. Such condition may be one of poverty, an unsupportive family, an unpeaceful neighborhood, etc. The patient’s family may have a history of substance abuse, mental disorders, etc.
The patient’s personality can also trigger anxiety attacks. This is because, it is found that people with low self esteem are more at risk because low self esteem will arouse the feeling of hopelessness and they therefore feel very vulnerable. Hormone imbalance can also trigger anxiety. The feel good hormone and the stressor hormone should be balanced to avoid anxiety to surface.
Anxiety attacks can surface as a result of traumatic past experience. Abuse during childhood is a very common one as well as war and natural disasters.
A patient needs to change his or her lifestyle if he or she is serious in preventing anxiety attacks. This is because; anxiety attack is often tied to unhealthy lifestyle. Exercise regularly; drink clean water, and get enough sleep is the key to starting life healthier and cure anxiety attacks at the same time.
By adopting a healthier lifestyle and undergoing professional treatment, a patient is on a sure road to recovery. A patient should also get all the support needed as well as the patient’s positive attitude.
It takes a lot of will and courage to start making this significant changes to yourself. Take it one step at a time, starting with making an appointment with a health professional. Just remember, it is never too late to start.
It is not impossible of course, but it will take a reasonable amount of time so perseverance will be good to have. The effort that you put in will no doubt determine how fast you will recover too. And how much effort you will contribute will depend on how much you want to recover. Still, try to remain in balance by not getting hard or negative on yourself. Knowing that you are a victim of such unfortunate self attacks, it is possible that you start feeling negative again, so remind yourself that you are only human.
You are really recovering at your own pace so whenever you can, leap a few steps if possible, but when it feels difficult on you, lighten up and remember that this is not the last time. What I am saying here is to keep everything in perspective. Quite likely, the key to happiness is to stay in balance and not throw yourself into one end of the spectrum again, as you have done before.
It is good to surround yourself with people who cares about you and understand you. Your family and friends are those likely to feel this way about you. You can also find comfort in strangers who shares the same problem as you. These are your local support group that you can look up or inquire about.
It makes a world of difference when you have supportive people who surround you. Don’t make the mistake that you can do it all on your own to stop anxiety attacks. No doubt that recovery lies within you, but in the meantime, you can really use the support that you can gain from people you can trust.
